Zuwena and her four children fled their village in Congo in 2009 to escape the civil conflict that threatened their safety. After 4 years in Kenya, they arrived in Greensboro at the end of 2012. Lilian, Jules and Julienne entered Hope Academy in the fall of 2015. Lilian completed 8th grade and went on to one year of Bennett College, and is presently a junior at Grimsley. Jules and Julienne started in 5th grade at Hope, and are currently completing their last year, 8th grade. Younger brother, Egide joined them at Hope this past fall as a 6th grader. Zuwena and her kids have been greatly blessed with Hope Academy. She loves the small class sizes, and the fact that the teachers really get to know her children – their strengths and their weaknesses. She finds it important to teach her children Godly principles, and is glad that Hope Academy is partnering with her in that way. “All of the field trip are good for the kids – to expose them to different places and things.”
